KingstonIn the Royal borough of Kingston upon Thames stands the Coronation Stone, said to commemorate the place at which 6th and 7th century Anglo-Saxon kings, including Ethelred the Unready, were crowned. But Kingston's history stretches back much further than this, a settlement is thought to have existed at the site on the bank of the Thames for thousands of years. Relics have been discovered in the area that are hundreds of thousands of years old and extensive Roman remains have also been uncovered.
